A new year is back

Hi!! 2011 is here, a year full of promises, projects, friends to enjoy and new friends to meet and, of course, music, is ahead. I could just say I will write more frequently this year but that is a promise I will not make... All of you readers and I myself will have to see what happens, kinda promising? Maybe... I will start where I finished, with this guy that has become a real inspiration and have filled my heart and soul with great moments. Gil Scott Heron has of course felt the importance of a new year coming, and even more he dedicated an album to a change not only of year but of decade, 1980. The whole album is inspired by this event, I will now just show here the song who names the album, 1980, with some sounds of hope and at the same time some feeling of nostalgia.

"It's nineteen eighty, and there ain't even no way back to
seventy five or nineteen sixty nine,
it's nineteen eighty, and ain't nobody ask me no time lately,
'how are we gonna open the door for nineteen eighty four?'"

I can't really say why but this song reminds me a lot of a book I have had the pleasure to read and share during this year, "The martian chronicles" by Ray Bradbury, a really nice and inspiring reading. And thinking about it a poem of Lord Byron that names one of the stories in the book, and that is included in the edition I read, comes to my mind. Again someone special pointed me this poem, so here is it.

"So, we'll go no more a-roving
so late into the night
though the heart be still as loving
and the moon be still as bright.

For the sword outwears the sheath,
and the soul wears out the breast,
and the heart must pause to breath,
and love itself have rest.

Though the night was made for loving
and the day returns too soon,
yet we'll go no more a roving,
by the light of the moon."

Since last blog post, a lot of new concerts have passed along and all of them have been enjoyed to bits. Some new friends have come along, some old ones have come back and some have just become a need in my life. And all of them have come around with music in their pockets.

I will probably forget some, but here are some of the concerts of this last months. First of all, and one of the nicest and funniest I enjoyed, a spanish band, "Delinquentes"... Complete fun, dancing and really good people arond, it was a dream.

"La primavera trompetera ya llegó
ya me despido del abrigo
las muchachitas me vacilan con el sol
Niña vente conmigo y toma quema la goma
que suelta el aroma, pintando el aire de negras palomas"

(sorry for this one, you english friends, but it's really difficult to translate, you'll have to enjoy the sounds of it... :-) )

Then a long musical festival took place, el "Festival Mundoidiota", more than 12 hours of funny music. So long that it could have a long post for itself, so I will leave here only a bit of it for you, a spanish hip-hop band that really touches my soul with their lyrics and sounds.

"Me cago en tu sistema
en tu placa, en tu parienta,
y quien no lo entienda, que achante la mui!!"

After that, a bunch of covers in Madrid's night, tribute to three great bands as Black Sabbath, Deep Purple and Led Zeppelin. Full of power and good mood, each and every song and band was really good to enjoy but, as I have to choose one, here comes the legend, Led Zeppelin. Can't find the Dieaway (that was the band that night) versions, so here comes the original one...

"You've been cooling babe, I've been droolin'
All the good times I've been misusin'
Way, way down inside, I'm gonna give you my love,
I'm gonna give you every inch of my love,
gonna give you my love..."

Wow, a hot song no doubt. As a hot concert it was. And the last of the year, another spanish band "Muchachito Bombo Infierno", really cool and powerful, more than two hours dancing nonstop and real good good good music!!!

"Un día soñando en un sueño soñé, que estaba soñando contigo,
soñar con hacerte el amor y soñé que no estaba dormío,
sueño que sueño, piel con piel, calor con calor... cuerpo con cuerpo
y aquel color de tu pelo y tu piel a la vez, aún despierto y recuerdo"

Cool bands ain't it?? But not every gig had a well known band in the scenery. Sometimes an unknown band can let good memories and this one did. So I couldn't finish this without a little mention to them. Just decide yourself, I already did, I was just there!!! :-)

And as I started, I finish. Again Gil Scott, again that 1980 album, and another song who talks about a new year coming, just what we've got ahead. I really hope you have enjoyed this little pieces of my music life, I can swear I really did enjoy each and every one of them.

"And if we see where we've been
somehow more clearly than before
and if we see where we're going somehow
like the opening of a door.

They're not there to stop your flowing
to somehow freeze you in the past
some do some mend to shape you growing
there's nothing left, to hold you back"

Happy new year 2011!!
